What Teachers Tell Us

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Katherine Oddy, English Teacher, Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate

My absolute favourite part of the academic year!

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Sky Blue Theatre to our school every year, and each time, they bring something fresh, exciting, and completely unforgettable!

Throughout the week, the company works with hundreds of our pupils from diverse backgrounds, nationalities, and mother tongues. They create an inclusive, high-energy environment that is both fun and educational, igniting a genuine love of Shakespeare in our students. Even those who 'claim' to dislike the bard!

Sky Blue’s approach is interactive; students are not just passive spectators, they get up on stage, wearing fantastic costumes, and actively engage with the text. They apply their understanding of the plot by performing scenes, exploring character motivations, and even directing the actors themselves, analysing key scenes and exploring alternative interpretations in a way that develops both confidence and critical thinking.

We’re especially grateful to John, Alex, and Chris, who have returned year after year and built fantastic relationships with our staff and students. Their energy, professionalism, and passion for theatre make a lasting impact on everyone they work with.

This year, the team went above and beyond by designing a brand new workshop: a courtroom drama where Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were put on trial for the murder of King Duncan. Our students became solicitors and lawyers, using evidence from the play to build arguments and interrogate characters. Many of my students even used this experience to inform their English coursework...a perfect example of how Sky Blue Theatre blends creativity with curriculum.

Sky Blue Theatre is far more than a visiting company. They are a highlight of our academic year and an essential part of our students' cultural and educational journey. We cannot recommend them highly enough!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Amy Davoudian, Year 6 English Lead, Christ the King Catholic Primary School

Excellent workshops, great communication and fabulous price!

We had an outstanding experience with Sky Blue Theatre as they taught our children Macbeth through an engaging interactive play and two dynamic breakout workshops.

The children absolutely loved participating in the acting, and the style and pace of the sessions were perfectly tailored to help them grasp what can be a challenging and complex text.

The writing opportunities that arose from the sessions were exceptional, and we’ve already secured bookings for the next academic year.

Communication throughout has been excellent, with John providing invaluable support to help us select the best options for our needs. Considering the rising costs across many companies, the value we receive from these sessions is truly remarkable.

We highly recommend Sky Blue Theatre to anyone looking for a meaningful and enriching educational experience.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Grace Billingham, KS3 English Lead, Oasis Academy John Williams

A fantastic experience for our young people

Our experience with Sky Blue Theatre was fantastic. We hosted two ‘Shakespeare Rewired’ performance workshops across one day for the whole of year 7 on Romeo and Juliet.

The actors/facilitators who were with us on the day were professional, enthusiastic and really reactive to the group of students they had in front of them. The students loved getting involved with the performance and we were so proud of their enthusiasm and participation.

There was a real buzz around the academy on the day and year 7 were so excited and inspired by this experience. We can’t wait to have Sky Blue Theatre Company back again!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Tom Westby, Head of English, Newland House School

I always get parents emailing me to thank the school...

Sky Blue are hilarious and amazing, and leave children with a really clear understanding of Shakespeare's plays and an enthusiasm for them.

I have booked Sky Blue in both schools I have worked at and we have had workshops in Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Kids loved them all and I always get parents emailing me to thank the school and tell me how much their child has enjoyed it.

I would thoroughly recommend to any English teacher who wants their students to enjoy Shakespeare and understand the plot clearly across KS2 and 3.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Hannah Carter, Head of Drama, Dulwich Cranbrook

Very professional... great communication and excellent value for money.

Sky Blue Theatre have now delivered us three workshops and every time they have been engaging, full or energy and helped our students be inspired by Shakespeare's work. Very professional at all times, great communication and excellent value for money.

We couldn't have been happier with what they delivered

John and Alex from Sky Blue Theatre Co visited our school as part of Shakespeare Week, and we couldn't have been happier with what they delivered. The feedback from all staff and children was so positive.

The hall was full of laughter and excitement throughout the day, and I truly believe that many children have a newly found love for Shakespeare as a result. Their infectious humour and enthusiasm made each workshop very special, and I was impressed with how involved all children were.

Communication throughout has been excellent and John listened to what we were hoping to achieve and tailored something which would suit all children in the school. The three separate workshops were all pitched and delivered perfectly for the ages of the children involved.

I thought the price of the workshop was excellent and was grateful that they came all the way to Shropshire, as not all companies are willing to. I would definitely recommend booking them, and I definitely plan to use them in the future.

The performance was amazing and the students thoroughly enjoyed it. The actors know how to engage their audience and having the students take part playing roles really helped in maintaining their attention and focus. Having them change their delivery of certain lines towards the end also helped them understand the nuances of stagecraft and the writer's intentions. A brilliant morning - we can't wait to see you all again next year!

Sky Blue Theatre Company engaged our Junior school pupils brilliantly as they led them through the main events of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
From the way pupils were encouraged to group audition, for each part, to the way the leaders promoted pupils in their lines or gave them the confidence to add-lib, this was an amazing experience from start to finish.
All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed it and they definitely increased in confident understanding of the play, whether they were in the production or part of the audience.

Very well done and thank you!

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Liam and Lee for the workshops they delivered today. We were genuinely blown away by their professionalism and the caring, fun approach they brought to the sessions.
Both pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed the experience. While we weren’t entirely sure what to expect beforehand, the workshops were absolutely perfect. The children were fully engaged and made wonderful memories while experiencing Shakespeare in such an enjoyable and accessible way.
Thank you for providing such a fantastic experience. We would love to book again.
